Hesperidin

Generating revenue by transforming discarded sweet oranges into valuable resources, benefiting small farmers and women labourers.

Grameena Vikas Kendram is pioneering an innovative initiative in India that creates additional income opportunities for small sweet orange and lime farmers, as well as women labourers, by utilizing aborted fruits that would otherwise go to waste. These fruits are rich in bioflavonoids like hesperidin, a key ingredient in the pharmaceutical industry. Recognized by Singapore University as one of Asia’s most promising social enterprises, this initiative transforms agricultural waste into valuable resources. Yasasree Viroha Impex Pvt Ltd, Grameena Vikas Kendram`s marketing arm, handles the marketing of Hesperidin. With a partnership secured with a leading European pharmaceutical company, the program ensures a stable market for this sustainable product.
